Jean Uhlman, 90, of Shohola, PA passed away at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY on November 14, 2012. She was a retired bank manager, member of St. Ann’s Church, Shohola, PA,the Marsch-Kellogg American Legion # 139, Milford, PA and the Mount Laurel VFW Post # 8612 Ladies Auxiliary, Milford, PA.
The daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Finney) Manson she was born on April 26, 1922 in England. She was married to Robert Uhlman. Survivors include her husband; two sons David Uhlman of Springfield, VA, Robert Uhlman, Jr. of Staten Island, NY; daughter Christine O’Connell of Jackson, NJ; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. After a full and beautiful life, Dorothy Van Edsinga, 89, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on June 27, 2009. A long time resident of Milford and Matamoras, Dorothy lived in Cheshire, Connecticut for the past twenty months.
She was born in New York City on January 20, 1920, the daughter of Robert and Agnes Thomsen. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved siblings, brother Robert, and sister Blanche. She cherished her marriage of 55 years to her late husband, Richard. They loved their three children, daughters Frances, Susan (deceased), and son Dick. She was blessed with five grandchildren David, Richard, Eric, Russell, and Karly, and one great-granddaughter, Heaven. Dorothy also loved her niece and four nephews and their children. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and kindness to all. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Shohola. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Dorothy A. "Dottie" Vernarec, 78, of Hawley, PA, died Monday night, April 3, 2017 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA. She was the wife of the late Stephen Vernarec, who died in 1995. Born January 15, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Loretta Johnston Donnelly. Prior to her retirement, Dottie was the former owner and operator of the Greeley Inn, Greeley, PA. She is survived by two daughters: Maggie Winchester of South Sterling, PA and Judith Thompson of Greeley, PA; one son: James Lavine; five grandchildren. A private graveside service and interment was held at St. Ann's Cemetery, Shohola, PA, by Rev. Thomas Major, pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Shohola, PA. Arrangements were entrusted to Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Carbondale, PA.
Barbara Ann Vogt of Eldred, a corporate comptroller with Bury Builders, Inc. in Livingston Manor and a 22-year area resident, died Monday, June 22, 1999, at home. She was 41.
Daughter of the late Glennon and Virginia Agnes Gehrs McDonnell Sr., she was born October 31, 1957, in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of St. Ann’s RC Church in Shohola, PA; a graduate with high honors of Mt. St. Mary College in Newburgh; a member of Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce; and board of directors of the Eagle Institute. Survivors include her husband, John D. Vogt and son, John Thomas of Eldred; two brothers, James Glennon McDonnell of Humacao in Puerto Rico and Thomas Francis McDonnell of Tampa, FL; a sister, Patricia McDonnell of Albany; and 11 nieces and nephews. A Mass of Resurrection was offered at St. Ann’s RC Church in Shohola. The Rev. Edward Quinnan officiated. Burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Eldred. Michael Eugene Volpato, 62, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004. He was office manager/kitchen designer for Blue Ridge Cabinets in Waynesboro, Va. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was born in Suffern, N.Y. on June 29, 1941 to Michael V. and Virginia M. (Perino) Volpato. He was married to Ruth (Keane) Volpato on May 11, 1968 in Whitney Point. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; his mother of Interlachen, Fla.; two daughters, Jennifer A. Huntsburger of Easton, Pa. and Michelle Lee Romero of Culpeper, Va.; two sisters, Lillian Truesdel of Punta Gorda, Fla. and Marion Barrett of High Springs, Fla.; and one brother, Thomas Volpato of Interlachen, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Jan. 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, Richardson Ave., Shohola, Pa. The Rev. Thomas Petro will officiate.
