Marie A. Miller
Marie A. Miller of Rowland, PA, a longtime resident of the area, passed away on Sunday, March 13 at home. She was 83.
The daughter of the late Edward and Stella Yackevicz Bortcavage, she was born September 13, 1927 in Eynon, PA.
She was married for 54 years to Joseph A. Miller, who survives.
A family statement reads: “Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a big part of the family and she will be truly missed.”
She is also survived by son Joseph A. Miller Jr. and wife Janet; daughter Maureen Moore and husband Joseph; grandsons Joseph and Daniel Miller and Joseph Moore; granddaughters Jennifer and Jade Moore; sister Helen Jaszczult; goddaughter Eileen Bridges; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, March 17 at St. Ann’s R.C. Church in Shohola, PA, with Father Thomas Major officiating. Christian burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Nancy J. Miller
Nancy J. Miller, a resident of Greeley and a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, March 29, 2006 in Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY. She was 55.
The daughter of Edward Hess of Shohola and the late Madeline “Cissy” Kleinert Hess, she was born July 4, 1950 in Port Jervis, NY.
Miller worked as a bartender at Ernie’s Place in Greeley.
A family statement said: “She was loved and respected by all who knew her.”
She is survived by her children, Stacy Beisel of Greeley and Jeff Miller of Shohola; her sister, Lisa Hess and a brother Steven Hess, both of Shohola; and her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Beisel.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 1 at Ann’s RC Church in Shohola with the reverend Philip Rayyapan officiating.
Cremation will take place at the H.G. Smith Crematory in Stroudsburg.
