Edward Walter McGowan
Edward Walter McGowan, a retired Thomas Bakery salesman of Masthope, formerly of Queens, NJ, died Saturday, January 27, 2001 at home. He was 73.
Son of the late Edward M. and Helen Vittermann McGowan, he was born in Queens.
A U.S. Army Veteran, he was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church of Shohola. He was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Hawley; a member of the American Legion Post 311; the Lackawaxen Township Volunteer Fire Department; the Pike County Firemen’s Federation; and the Queens Village, Hollis, and Belrose Ambulance Corp. for 30 years in Queens, NY.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sweeney McGowan at home; one daughter, Valerie Tarus of Pine Hill, NJ; two grandchildren, Brian and Brooke Tarus of Pine Hill, NJ; and a nephew.
A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. David W. Cramer officiated. Burial was in Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley.
