John W. Kerr
John W. "Uncle Jack" Kerr of Barryville, died Friday, April 9, 2010 at the home where he was born. He was 92.
The only son of the late William and Mary Cahill Kerr, he was born in Barryville on September 1, 1917.
He was known as Uncle Jack by his family and extended family. Jack was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was in the submarine repair unit, Navy 134 Dept.: Medical, Work Station: sick bay.
He was a member of the American Legion Eldred, NY. Early years he had worked for the A&P in Eldred. He worked and retired from Narrowsburg Lumber Co. in Shohola, PA. Uncle Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and being at home.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Ziemack, Mary Eckhart, Jessie Bradley, Helen Puchyr, and Ruth Nelson.
Survivors include his nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann R.C. Church in Shohola, PA, with Fr. Thomas Major officiating.
Christian Burial will be in Montoza Cemetery, Barryville.
