William J. Gannon
William J. Gannon of Shohola, PA passed away Friday May 11, 2007 in Sussex, NJ. He was 78.
The son of the late Cornelius and Gertrude Schedell Gannon, he was born April 24, 1929 in Staten Island, NY. He was married to Jean Hahne Gannon and first to the late Patricia Ann Godieski Gannon.
William was a retired Superintendent for the Department of Public Works, Lyndhurst, NJ for 26 years. He was a member of the Shohola Fire Department, Pike County Fire Federation, Pike County Fire Police, AARP Milford Chapter, Shohola Railroad and Historical Society and the Sagamore Estates Property Owners Association Board of Directors. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1948 to 1952. He was also a member of the Navy AGC Flagship Alliance and a 41-year combined member of the American Legion Post # 139, Milford, PA and #139 Lyndhurst, NJ.
He is survived by his wife; six children, Denise Grabowski of Anderson, SC, Judith Gannon of Amarillo, TX, David Gannon of Orange Vale, CA, William. J. Gannon, Jr. of Sussex, NJ, Daniel T, Gannon of Simsbury, CT and Edward T. Gannon of Leesburg, VA; four stepchildren, Paula Spears of Nutley, NJ, Jeannie Gingerelli of Woodridge, NJ, Joseph Starost of River Edge, NJ and John Oster of Oakridge, NJ; two brothers, Michael and John; two sisters, Marjorie and Barbara; and 21 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Wednesday May 16, 2007 with the Rev. Thomas Major officiating. Services conducted by Shohola Fire Department and the American Legion Post # 139, Milford followed. Interment will take place in the Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst, NJ on Thursday May 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.
