Henry Froeschl of Barryville, NY, a retired machinist and longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 84.
The son of the late Maximillian and Margaret Kolb Froeschl, he was born September 28, 1923 in Bamberg, Germany. He was married to Genevieve Schaurer for 61 years, who survives.
Henry worked for Wegner Machinery Corp. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He was a member and usher for St. Ann’s R.C. Church in Shohola, PA, a member of the Shohola Fire Department and of the Town of Highland Seniors Club. A family statement read: “Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a tinkerer who could fix anything. He was a good person who will greatly be missed by all that knew him.”
Survivors include his wife at home; two daughters, Diane Tobin and husband Phillip of Middletown, RI and Marie Froeschl and husband Bill Scott of Essex, VT; one brother, Max and his wife Norma of Florida; five grandchildren; one step-granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard Froeschl.
Friends are invited to call for a memorial visitation on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Gray-Rasmussen Funeral Home, Route 97, Barryville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s R.C. Church. Father Thomas Major will officate.
Burial of the cremains will take place in Montoza Cemetery, Barryville, NY.
