Edward B. Cooney
Edward B. Cooney, 78, of Shohola, Pa., passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006 at Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, PA.
He was a retired fireman in White Plains, N.Y. and a retired dispatcher for Pike County Communications Center, Milford, PA. Mr. Cooney was a member of St. Ann's Church, Shohola, Pa., life-member of the American Legion, White Plains, and a US Navy WW II veteran.
The son of the late William and Rosemary O'Dowd Cooney, he was born on April 28, 1927 in Peekskill. He was married to Dorothy Brannigan Cooney on June 21, 1952 in Plains, PA.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sally Cooney of Manhattan, Marikate Oset and husband Michael of Yulan; his son Peter Cooney and wife Henriette of Milford, PA.; four grandchildren, Celia, Timothy, Elizabeth and Katherine.
Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford on Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church, Shohola on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. The Rev. Philip Rayyapan will officiate.
Burial will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, German Hill, Shohola.
